It was a hot summer day in August, but you could feel the palpable joy that was in the air. A momentous occasion was taking place in Manchester, New Hampshire.
After many long years and some red-tape hurdles to overcome, the Chabad Center of Jewish Living was finally moving forward with a much-needed expansion.
Back in 2018, the Chabad Center was officially inaugurated, providing a long-awaited home for the community. Just 6 years later, the center was bursting at the seams, and an expansion was in order. But it wasn’t just an expansion that was needed – the community, and state, had been missing something vital to every Jewish community – a Mikvah.
On this August day, as cement trucks rolled in, a small crowd was present for the holy moment in which the cement was poured, forming boros of the Mikvaot – one for women, and one for men. This Mikva is the first in the state that will be open year-round.
When anyone visits the Chabad Center, located on River Road, they find a charming, warm environment, where everyone feels like they are a part of the Chabad family. The current project, in addition to the Mikvaot, will be expanding the Shul to accommodate for the large crowds, building a beautiful new lounge for the proud New Hampshire CTeen chapter, and providing a number of Shabbos hospitality suites.
Rabbi Levi Krinsky and his wife Shternie are very excited to for this project to be complete, knowing that this will enable them to service the community on an even bigger scale. The Krinsky’s are deeply inspired by watching how their community has grown, and are grateful that this expansion will allow for even more families and individuals to begin attending programs and services.
This expansion would not have been possible without the insight, time and expertise of the one and only Rabbi Gershon Grossbaum who directed the architect in creating the mikvah drawings and Rabbi Pesach Sperlin who spent two weeks overseeing every detail of the actual construction of the mikvaot. Rabbi Pesach Sperlin together with Mikvah USA, ensured that the Mikvaot are both at the highest standard of Kashrus, while maintaining the beauty and comfort encouraged by the Rebbe.
