i do not understand why any jewish school has any tests ever. what is the purpose? or competitions. we are not in a competition. and we shouldn’t be.

Points for effort, but the contradiction is obvious. The title suggests a course or program designed to help students think critically yet all of the topics listed are geared towards test taking!

My son’s 5th grade Rebbi (ULY, Crown St) told us at open school night, “Tests will be surprise quizzes. They are only for me to know if the student internalized the material or I have to teach it to him differently. There’s no point in a test if the parent has to teach it to the child the night before.”
