Is Knowledge Power?! Here is knowledge:

Sholoim uVerocho, To elucidating the absence of risk due to MbP: A significant majority of American adults today are carriers of the virus in question which is almost always transmitted while the carrier shows visible symptoms (cold sores etc). The greater risk is parents or caretakers passing the infection onto children, which the DOH apparently ignores entirely. Given the virus has been around for thousands of years, and as mentioned the majority of American adults today are carriers, there would be countless incidents (especially given the frequency most practicing Mohelim perform Milah), yet there has not been shown sufficient evidence… Read more »

Even though I agree with the need of consent and I blame the rabbis for not having regular checkups and papers saying they are healthy (we wouldn’t have had this issue if kids didn’t get sick and die). The fact that it is being regulated at all is bad for the Jewish future in America and all over the worl. However no law about bris/bmp should be passed but consent should be signed next to the mohels clean bill of health. And if you are still scared get some life insurance for the baby

In essence, the law coerces an admission from the parents that they have knowingly endangered their baby’s welfare–a self-incriminating statement that could be leveled against them at a later time.

No it doens’t it simply requires them to acknowledge they know the risks. The DOH are not BANNING MBP they are just requiring consent. In the UK Consent is required for the actual bris as well. It’s a standard part of healthcare. Plus MBP is very hard to defend. Get mohelim to get tested for herpes and stop being hysterical

Tachlis - what can we do?

What can we do to protest this

Can we send an email somewhere? Can we call some phone number? Will a protest be organized? You bet my last drop of blood I’ll be there, I want my children to have undisturbed brissen, and their children- OK whatever Moshiach is coming soon anyway

I know the Jews have been performing the Bris this way for thousands of years. I know that no king or or government in history has been able to successfully ban, limit or regulate Bris Mila. I know that generations of Jews were willing to sacrifice their lives for this holy Mitzvah…

This knowledge gives me the power and strength to what is right…

Knowledge is indeed power.

system or not?

Ask a lawyer how to proactively target individuals from DOH who interest themselves in a Bris case, all the way to the top. similar to counter suing.
Also, elect someone else as mayor of New York City.

This is another misguided attempt by the ultra-orthodox to keep people in the dark. It simply requires an informed decision. If a parent chooses not to agree to MBP, the mohel has the right not to proceed. In the orthodox community, this will have no effect. The only effect in may have, is in the not religious community. People should have the right to decide. We don’t go on the street, asking people if they are jewish and then immediately proceed to wrap them in teffilin without their consent. Informed consent (as knowledge) is always important. Stop fearing knowledge! We… Read more »
