A bochur was assaulted Monday night in front of Oholei Torah Mesivta at approximately 9:45PM.
3 male black teenagers looking for trouble started an altercation with a group of Bochurim exiting the Yeshiva building. One of the teenagers suddenly punched one of the Bochurim and fled.
Shmira and 911 were called and 2 of the 3 teenagers were apprehended.
After a brief police investigation, one of the perpetrators was arrested, while the other one was released.

When I was there it was fun. Every day these punks would come to the front of the building sometimes with a baseball bat. i am a student in that school and the second the teen punched my friend we all ran after him and tackled two out of the three thugs. so dont say we dont defend ourselves

No way the cops are doing there jobs if the perp is smiling and looking like he going to Disneyland. The kids family and the cops get a “Failure” grade and this is why it continues for no fear of authority. They need to bring this kid to jail to the general population for a day or two.
Blaming the victim should not be the final comment. Yeah.. the Bochur was so immature for not avoiding the punch! 🙂 Counter intuitive logic.
Actually, my son was there and he reported that the Bochur took the punch and immediately went right after the perp. Good for him!
3 of my son’s were there. The misivta bochurim ran after them and beat up all 3 of them before the police got there… I think the perps will think twice before trying to start up on bochurim again.

Does anyone have an answer? Sitting lame ducks who never defend ourselves- I’m not talking about the young bochurim, but it seems no one goes after them including, no one gives them a taste of their own. They are really cowards at heart and will be plenty scared at a sign of retaliation. The Torah supports defending ourselves, including pre-emptively to PREVENT attacks.
The criminals are not afraid of the police because the police let them go without even keeping records of the report. The whole thing is a joke to them.
I recall watching a video, where the Rebbe was greeted by Senator Moynihan, and the great Senator asked what he could do for the Rebbe. I was surprised while watching the video, in some shul in CH, that the Rebbe said to Moynihan to do something to help the Chinese since they are such a good people.
I hope to see a future alliance between the conservative Asian-American communities and the Orthodox Jewish.

I was there last night and saw this happen. The one thug who threw the punch was being held against a car very gently and started yelling about how he couldn’t breathe. Meanwhile, he got on the phone with his mother and said to send his brother. (Explain to me how someone can have a full conversation without being able to breathe? Physiologically nearly impossible.) In America the police are not supposed to protect people. In fact, police have one job and that is to enforce the law. A police officer is intended to stop or bother a person only in the event that they are breaking the law or there is reason to believe they are or will be. First of all, to those saying “Cancel night Seder”, stop it. If you must know, this incident occurred long after night Seder ended if I am not mistaken. Either way, cancelling night Seder and cowering down is not the answer.
Also, in these situations, would it not be best to go back inside and lock the door behind you? As opposed to adding fuel to these animals fire?
1) Demand Future Mayoral Candidate Eric Adams spend $1 million on more cops and surveillance cameras, just like when Eric Adams said Crown Heights needed the $1 million more then Borough Park, when it came to NYS Budget dollars, a few years ago.
2) Hook up with the Bodega Owners who are demanding more cops and more crime prevention after the gang attacks on youths inside Bodegas in the Bronx

Raise the Age Law changed the age in which a sucker punch, which does not result in serious injury, can send you to jail. When i was in mesivta 15+ years ago, we had the same type of stuff happen….wild stupid kids just having fun making trouble….and probably some bad friends or parenting added to the mix. The only difference is, now its being reported…before it was just ignored. Not going to change – their parents acted the same at that age too.
I’m so glad the cops found what 2 smile about with this budding criminal , that really builds my confidence in my security! How about as a good will gesture & 2 show that the cops r with us for the next week after such an incident when ever a cop stops a Jew or any law abiding community member he sends them away with a smile & a warning as a show of good will & that they are here to protect us .

1) These Oholei Torah talmidim are mesivta boys — ages 13-16, approximately.
They are even younger than the Toronto talmidim who were attacked recently, who were yeshivah gedolah boys, age 17. (Not that it’s any more OK to attack zal talmidim!!)
And, keep in mind that our even younger fourth-grader (and up) cheder boys are walking around at night for the extra learning programs they are participating in, too!
2) This kind of attack has also happened to O.T. mesivta boys in broad daylight — eerily similar to https://collive.com/show_news.rtx?id=40858 — so banning night seder will NOT solve the problem.
The picture that’s posted here is not Perp that actually got arrested. These were two teens that were with him. Shomrim apprehended them until police arrived.
