Hundreds of men, women and children came out to celebrate a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Chabad Center to be built in Bellevue, Washington on Sunday, Elul 26.
Chabad of Bellevue, led by Rabbi Mordechai Farkash, purchased the acre of land 3 years ago, and will begin building now after receiving the necessary permits.
The planned 20,000 sq. ft. center will house a new Shul, Social hall, library, classrooms, and offices.
The groundbreaking ceremony opened with words from Rabbi Farkash, who told the history of the Eastside Torah Center in Bellevue, which opened 16 years ago and has flourished until today.
Rabbi Sholom Ber Levitin, Head Shliach of the State of Washington, and Shliach Rabbi Yechezkel Kornfeld each spoke and gave words of blessing.
Before the groundbreaking ceremony attendees enjoyed a Rosh Hashana Fair coordinated by Rabbi Sholom Ber and Chaya Elishevitz, Directors of Cteen, youth and young adult programs.
