Jewish music star Avraham Fried has composed a new niggun for the Rebbe’s Kapitel 121 in Tehillim, which Chassidim will begin reciting this year on Yud Alef Nissan, the Rebbe’s 120th birthday.
The new song will be debuted ahead of the Mega Yud Alef Nissan event which will take place in Crown Heights on Sunday night, Tes Nissan, April 10, 7:30 PM.
Fried was joined by his nephew singers Benny Friedman and Eli Marcus in filming a music video for the new niggun. The clip features 770 Eastern Parkway and the famous Chabad Mitzvah Tank, among other landmarks.
During the filming on Thursday, the team traveled to Park Slope to search for a fellow Jew to help don Tefillin to be featured in the video. They searched for a while, but to no avail, they told COLlive.com.
Finally, as they were about to give up and head back to Crown Heights, a man passed by.
At first, the man said he is not Jewish, and walked away. But a few moments later, as they pulled out, he returned and informed them, “my mother is Jewish.”
They joyfully told him that he is in fact a Jew, and they asked him if he would like to put on Tefillin.
He had never put on Tefillin before.
So with the help of Fried, the young man put on Tefillin for the very first time, and with happy “l’chaims!” he celebrated his Bar Mitzvah.
The young man then visited 770 Eastern Parkway, where he was given a tour, and he said he will be following up with his local Chabad center for the Pesach holiday.
The exciting new niggun video will be debuted at the Mega Event, which will feature an all-star lineup of singers including Fried, Friedman, Mendi Jerufi, Eli Marcus and Avi Piamenta.
The streets of Eastern Parkway will be blocked off for an in-person event on a massive scale. 15,000 are expected to attend.
I am so inspired and proud of Avrohom Freid and all our young men who go out and touch another Jew!!!!
