Immediately upon landing in Israel on Sunday, Argentina’s President, Mr. Javier Milei, arrived to pray at the Western Wall as part of his third state visit to Israel since taking office. As in his previous visits, the president chose to begin his official visit specifically at the Western Wall, the spiritual heart of the Jewish people.
Accompanying the president was a senior Argentine delegation, including Foreign Minister Mr. Gerardo Werthein, Presidential Secretary Ms. Karina Milei, Argentina’s Ambassador to Israel, Rabbi Shimon Axel Wahnish, and his wife.
Welcoming the president were the Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, and the Director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mr. Mordechai (Suli) Eliav. They congratulated the president for his firm support of the Jewish people and the State of Israel, expressing deep appreciation for the strong ties he maintains with the Jewish people and Israel, especially in recent years.
During the visit, the president was deeply moved and said this is the most important place for him. Together with the rabbi of the Western Wall, he recited a Psalm and offered a special prayer for peace for their nations and the continued success of the friendship between the peoples and countries.
As in his previous visit, the president is expected to return to the Western Wall toward the end of his stay and conclude his official visit to Israel there.
At the end of the visit, the president offered a personal prayer, received from the rabbi of the Western Wall his book “Steppingstones” (in English) about Jewish festivals, and signed the visitors’ book.
