Rabbi Shlomo Bentolila, Director of Chabad of Central Africa, has launched a continent-wide campaign inviting local Jews, expats and tourists to Yom Kippur services.
“We reserved a seat, a Machzor and a smile for you, wherever you may be in Africa,” posters announced.
Locations of the minyanim for Kol Nidrei, Yizkor and Neila are in The Congo, Abidjan in the Ivory Coast, Windhoek in Namibia, Freetown in Sierra Leone, Nairobi in Kenya, Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria, Accra in Ghana and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
Some of the services will be held in established synagogues, while others will be held in rented halls or hotels.
All of them will be run by Lubavitch bochurim sent as part of the Merkos Shlichus program of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch.
