CGI United is entering its sixth summer, opening an exciting new chapter with the appointment of Rabbi Shimon and Shira Sabol as the camp’s new directors, along with a refined program structure and renewed focus on camper and staff experience.
As directors, the Sabols bring a strong blend of experience and vision. Mrs. Shira Sabol is a mechaneches and seasoned camp administrator with close to a decade of experience, recognized for her hands-on leadership and personal dedication to campers and parents. Rabbi Shimon Sabol brings extensive experience in event planning and program development, adding structure, creativity, and streamlined logistics to camp operations.
As part of this new direction, they are introducing a program organized into four distinct divisions, each thoughtfully designed to meet participants at their stage of development.
United Girls, for girls completing fourth grade and up, will feature new elective tracks and the individualized attention essential at this age.
The United Bas Mitzvah Experience will focus on the meaningful transition into womanhood, blending hands-on learning with a full and engaging activity schedule.
United Teens will offer a high-energy experience for young adults, with expanded trips and a dynamic, constantly-on-the-go schedule.
The camp’s exclusive waitress program will operate as a close-knit group, highlighted by a two-day midsummer adventure.
While the structure is evolving, the camp remains firmly grounded in years of dedication and growth. Reflecting on this next chapter, camp visionary Rabbi Sholom Goldstein shared:
“CGI United has always been a place of growth, but seeing the energy the Sabols are bringing is truly inspiring. We are not just building a camp; we are building the future leaders of our community by giving them a space where joy and Yiddishkeit go hand in hand.”
Building on last year’s successful initiative, CGI United is proud to continue offering subsidized tuition starting at $1,800 for a single session and $3,000 for the full summer for all registrations, with no questions asked and no application required. This commitment reflects the camp’s dedication to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience a meaningful summer at CGI United.
A central pillar of the Sabols’ leadership is an emphasis on warmth, maturity, and stability. This summer, CGI United will welcome a team of experienced mentors who provide consistent guidance and care, ensuring that alongside exciting activities, the environment remains nurturing and grounded.
The new leadership is also placing strong emphasis on staff wellbeing. CGI United is cultivating a culture of appreciation and support, designed to ensure counselors feel valued, empowered, and connected to the camp’s mission. “We believe that when our staff feels cared for and loved, that energy flows directly to the campers,” explains Mrs. Shira Sabol. “Our goal is to create an environment where staff feel truly supported and part of something meaningful.”
The summer will conclude with a four-day, all-expenses-paid international staff trip, personally led by Rabbi Shimon and Shira Sabol, offering staff an opportunity to reflect, recharge, and celebrate the impact of their work.
With new directors and a clear, values-driven vision, CGI United’s sixth season represents a natural and meaningful step forward, setting the tone for continued growth and impact.
