I remember this!

I lived in Long Beach in the mid-1970s and was so glad to have the mikvah there when I decided to start using it. It was a beautiful mikvah, enhanced by the pink and blue towels that my parents donated from their L.A. store. Thanks to all the people who were involved with this mikvah.

So proud of my Rebbe, Rabbi Engel!

The story is inspiring, but watching my first and second grade Rebbe teaching in the same expressive way I remember from almost 40 years ago is even more inspiring!

A grateful student (and now a Morah)

BH very inspiring and so true. Just speaking about this at our
Shabbos table. Yes, many of the antiquated mikvaot have been refurbished in Israel over the last few years, but since the Waldorf Astoria opened this past week, keep dreaming of a mikvah for the city center that can equal the spa like mikvaot worldwide, to be used by Jewish women that visit from all over the world, can be an educational center to promote family life and for the local women as well. One day….

What a story

I remember that mikvah it was beautiful. Although I left Long Beach in 1975 I still remember Rabbi Engel(and back then Rabbi Rabbi Shusterman,Rabbi Piekarski, and let’s not forget Rabbi Newman who could sure hit a baseball).Rabbi Engel who after being tired and exhausted after the whole week of work would stay up late(2am) often Friday nights and learn with me hoping a drop of Torah would be absorbed… I did end up in Morristown for three years. He’s a real mench with total self sacrifice. May he may be well and healthy in all ways(physically and spiritually) with his family.… Read more »
