A leading Sephardic spiritual leader in Israel offered blessings to visitors at a Melave Malka in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood.
Rabbi Yechiel Abuhatzeira, Chief Rabbi of the city of Ramle and a descendant of the righteous Moroccan dynasty, was the guest of R’ Yaakov Reich and family.
On Shabbos day he was warmly welcomed at Congregation Beis Levi Yitzchak on Albany and Crown Street and was asked to speak.
The Motzei Shabbos reception at the Reich residence on President Street marked the birthday of the 5th Lubavitcher Rebbe – the Rashab – and the passing of kabbalist Rabbi Yitzchak Abuhatzeira.
Jews from the New York and New Jersey areas came to receive a blessing, as Yitzchak Bitton entertained with traditional piyutim – poems.
Participants included Rabbi Yisrael Meir Ovadia of Zecher Chanoch, Rabbi David Bouskila of Otsar Hatorah schools in Paris and Rabbi Gad Bouskila of Netivot Yisrael in Flatbush.
In his remarks, Rabbi Abuhatzeira spoke passionately about the great work of Chabad Shluchim, and especially on campus “which I witnessed first hand.”
He also praised the hospitality of Crown Heights residents. “This is indeed the great power of a tzaddik, the Rebbe,” he said.
Rabbi Abuhatzeira visited the main 770 shul and will be praying at the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens.
It is clear who R’ Yaakov Reich’s Rebbe is from the pictures. The Rebbe said amazing things to all Abuhatzeira descendants and there is no reason why any one of them who is legitimate should not be welcome in the Rebbe’s Shechuna.

to #3 and #5 Just because R’Reich is hosting a tsaddik, a descendant from Baba Sale who always said good things about the Rebbe, you think it is disloyal to the Rebbe. So, if you are chabad, you should not talk or host any other holy man. The Rebbe had respect for everyone and you should be loyal to his teachings instead of being sarcastic and disrespectful.
