A deer at United Lubavitch Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway?
Rabbi Michoel Harari‘s 7th and 8th grade American History class wanted to bring American post Revolutionary War to life by reliving some of the tasks of early Native Americans and settlers to the west.
So they gathered a dozen fresh “green” deer hides and went to work.
The students learned the primitive art of preserving, preparing and tanning hides. The students did most the work to their hides on their free time.
“I’m going to make a bag for my Teffilin!” exclaimed one student.
Another student said, “I will never look at my teffilin or any leather the same way again, this takes a lot of work.”
The boys really enjoyed the activity. Completely Rabbi Harari’s project, this. And many others.
Keep it up you’ll make ULYOP have the best Eng. program in lubavatch!

To # 4 Thank you very much for your kind words. I must confess, I feel the working environment here in yeshiva is so enjoyable, a place where the focus is on each individual student, it allows and nurtures us as teachers/Rabbis to be creative and make yeshiva a good, fun place to be.
So in closing the true thanks and appreciation must go to Rabbi Dechter, Rabbi Baras and Rabbi Rose who are always inspiring and positively encouraging us at yeshiva to raise the bar.
Thank you again, may we merit the redemption now!
Rabbi Harari
I see Rabbi Rose is on top of things there B”H, it takes a South African to put together a great English program! Keep up the good work Bru!
