What a busy week we had at Beis Chaya Mushka as we celebrated Yud Shvat and Tu B’shvat.
After preparing for Yud Shvat through daily “Rebbe Times” and learning Basi Legani by heart, the school took part in a special program on Friday which included a beautiful slide show for Seder Niggunim, stories of each Rebbe, and music. Each class had an inspiring farbrengen with one of their teachers on Shabbos or Motzei Shabbos in different homes.
The festivities continued on Sunday morning with a delicious breakfast that included a speaker and video of Yud Shvat with the Rebbe. Later in the day, the students learned all about writing Panim, duchs, and letters to the Rebbe, with lots of interesting stories and anecdotes. They learned the Yiddish rendition of the song “R’ Mendel” – a reminder that the Rebbe receives our letters today, just as before. This all became hands-on as each girl decorated her own personal “Letters to the Rebbe” book, and wrote her first Pan in it.
In honor of Tu B’Shvat, the girls learned lessons from each of the Shivas Haminim and actually counted the seeds in the pomegranate. They then made delicious fruit kabobs out of figs, dates, grapes, dried fruits, honeydew, pineapple and more! They also watched as some 7th and 8th graders broke out our exciting Brachos Bee and Halachos Fair which will IYH take place on Rosh Chodesh Adar Sheini.
they r so cute
My daughter showed me a very moving “pan” and when I showed it to her father he was quite moved as well. You included a photo of her about to write the pan and the intensity on her face amazes me – particularly because I know what she subsequently wrote. What a great shot!
Thank you so much for this glimpse of her at that moment.
