A trip to Six Flags Amusement Park in California turned out to be even more exciting for campers of Gan Israel of Simcha Monica.
Before going on the trip, the children were briefed by the head counselor about the rules which must be followed in such a large area.
After listing all the rules, the head counselor made an offer: “Whichever group of campers will find a Jew and put on Tefillin with him, will be rewarded – each Jew, another prize!”
At the end of the day, the results of the boys’ work were tallied – and it turned out they had helped six men who had not put on Tefillin that day perform the Mitzvah – three of them for their very first time!
“On every line we went on, the campers in my group made sure to ask everyone if they were Jewish!” one staff member said. “Because Camp Gan Israel of Simcha Monica ‘makes a Jewish summer fun, and a fun summer Jewish!'”
