With the approach of Yud Shevat – anniversary of the passing of the Previous Rebbe and beginning of the Rebbe’s leadership – historic video of a landmark Chasidic discourse by the Rebbe has been released and will be viewed around the world.
The discourse, featured on a new DVD release by Jewish Educational Media (JEM) of the Rebbe’s Farbrengen of Yud Shevat, 5732-1972, is based on the second chapter of the Previous Rebbe’s Maamar Bosi Legani, matching this year’s chapter.
“Each year on Yud Shevat, the Rebbe would recite an original Maamar based on his father-in-law’s landmark discourse of the same name,” explains Rabbi Akiva Nussbaum, Director of JEM’s “Farbrengen” series.
“With 20 chapters in the Previous Rebbe’s Maamar, the Rebbe would focus on a different chapter each year, beginning in 1951. This year, 2012, corresponds to the Rebbe’s Maamorim in 1952, 1972 and 1992,” he said.
In addition to the Maamar, the rest of the newly-released Farbrengen is particularly fascinating, and will be being screened by Shluchim for their friends at Chabad centers worldwide.
In other news, one of the Talmidim Shluchim in a Lubavitch Yeshiva has translated the Maamar from 5732 on his own.
“It is suited for those already somewhat initiated in learning Chassidus,” he told COLlive, asking for his name not be mentioned. He said he gave it to a Mashpia to review.
