A group of four Israeli bochurim who spent the Rosh Hashana holiday at the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens were victims of a mugging on Yom Tov.
The group left the Ohel for Mivtza Shofar on the streets of Queens on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, and were attacked by a group of thugs demanding money.
The incident occurred about half an hour’s walk from the Ohel. Three individuals emerged from a parked car and ran towards them, yelling “Empty Your pockets!”
The bochurim ran in all directions as they were pursued by their attackers. With great ingenuity, one of the bochurim pulled the shofar out of his pocket and began threatening the attackers with it, as if it was a weapon.
After reporting the incident through a nearby store owner, the bochurim continued on to their intended route, undeterred from their mission.

“one of the bochurim pulled the shofar out of his pocket and began threatening the attackers with it, as if it was a weapon”
A true open miracle all 4 bochurim escaped unscathed from these hoodlums! Make this years teshuva extra sincere. Give a little extra Tzedaka. Make a small personal resolution that’s doable and maintainable. Convince a stranger to do a good deed [use wtvr logic you want: feels good to do good, get a spiritual high, pay it forward, “Ask not what your country can do for you…”, a little light dispels a lot of darkness, et cetera]. Make the world a little better of a place then you found it
So better than a gun is to carry a Shofar look at the protection it rendered 🤗🤗🤗🤗
