For the second year in a row, Chassidic farbrengens were held in Lakewood, New Jersey, celebrating Yud Shvat, the day the Rebbe accepted the leadership of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
The first was Tuesday night on the eve of Yud Shevat with R’ Chaim Meisels and hosting Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Gourarie, Mashpia of Yeshivas Menachem Mendel in Detroit and father of the nearby Toms River Shliach.
An additional event was held Tuesday night with Rabbi Nochum Grunwald at the Chabad on Central Ave. A grand farbrengen was also held Wednesday night hosted by Rabbi Shmuel Naparstek of Chabad of Jackson. The event was held at the Lutzk Simcha Hall with guest speaker R’ Shalom Mordechai Rubashkin sharing insights to bitchon in the darkest of places.
An additional farbrengen was hosted Wednesday night for women with guest speaker Mrs. Sara Blau. A special thanks to everyone who made the events happen.
Yud Shevat is the anniversary of the passing of the Rayatz, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, sixth Rebbe of Lubavitch, of blessed memory, (5710/1950). On the same day, one year later, his son-in-law, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, assumed the mantle of leadership of Chabad. This year marks 70 years since that time.
