200 people joined a Chassidic farbrengen at Getzel’s Shul on Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights on Wednesday evening, celebrating Yud Shevat – the day the Rebbe accepted the leadership of Chabad-Lubavitch.
Leading it were guest speakers – renowned lecturer and author Rabbi Shais Taub, and Rabbi Efraim Mintz, Director of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI).
Rabbi Mintz began the farbrengen by explaining that the day of Yud Shvat is not only a day for receiving blessings but more so about what each of us will give back to the Rebbe.
Rabbi Taub spoke about the need to find our true selves through the lens of our relationship with the Rebbe, and that hiskashrus is the key to unlocking our own inner greatness.
The farbrengen included remarks by R’ Yankel Pinson of Crown Heights speaking about the importance of the day, as well as Rabbi Alexander Namdar, the Head Shliach of Sweden.
A diverse crowd attended the farbrengen, many giving birthday wishes to R’ Yossi Soffer, President of Marketing of Community News Service COLlive.com, who sponsored the Farbrengen in honor of his 50th birthday.
The farbrengen inspired participants, and went on until after 1:30 am.
