This policy may ultimately backfire. While it is true that cars can sometimes impede emergency vehicles, during a snowstorm non-essential vehicles can actually play a critical role in supporting essential travel. Continuous traffic can help clear snow from the roads, making it easier for emergency vehicles to pass. If traffic is completely shut down, snow may accumulate more quickly, making streets harder to navigate and potentially slowing emergency response times.

This is another example of a policy that focuses on potential benefits without fully considering the unintended consequences.

that is what snow plows and sanders are for. This is not an ordinary storm; more cars on the streets will only mean more accidents and more stuck vehicles. Don’t always be so skeptical of local government.

The local government earned the skepticism in spades during covid. Once trust is lost, it ain’t coming back and for good reason.
