This year’s public Menorah lighting of Montevideo has seen the biggest crowd ever. Close to 1,000 people came together to join in the festivities.
The program started with the Police School of Music, live concert by Choni G., Magic Show, the Dreidel Man, sufganiot and latkes, and all kinds of activities for the little ones.
Many community leaders were present at the lighting, beginning with the Israeli Ambassador Dori Goren, who was accompanied by Rabbi Eliezer Shemtov, director of Chabad of Uruguay and Bentzion Ascher.
They were followed by the President of the Kehila, Mr. Alberto Buzkaniec, accompanied by the Chief Rabbi of the Kehila, Rabbi Bentzion Spitz.
The children’s program was led by Mrs. Rochi Shemtov in her inimitable energetic way. It was an inspiring evening to remember. Next year in Jerusalem.
