When Russia declared war on Ukraine and cities were being attacked, a representative of Keren Hayesod received an urgent phone call asking for help.
Pleading for support was Chabad Shlucha Dina Erentroi who was sheltering some 25 Jews in her home in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia.
She said the danger was too great and was afraid of the demise of the local Jewish community which she and her husband Rabbi Nachum Erentroi has been serving for the last 26 years.
As reported on COLive.com, the Erentroi family made it out safely to the Holy Land of Israel, together with 120 members of their community on one of the Keren Hayesod-supported rescue flights that landed early this week.
Rabbi and Mrs. Erentroi say they are committed to continuing their work from Israel. Four additional buses are set to depart from Ukraine and will make their way to safety thanks to the support of Keren Hayesod.
In an interview, Mrs. Erentroi became tearful as she shared the story of her story of bravery and resilience.
The Shluchim have left behind their entire life that they built over the past 25 years. An entire community and all their possessions, except for the bare necessities, left behind.
Help them now as they begin to rebuild their lives.
