Manhattan Shliach Rabbi Shmuly Metzger, who frequently visited Rabbi Yudi Dukes OBM as he battled COVID in the hospital, tells of what Yudi requested as protocol of every person who entered his room.
“Yudi represented the triumph of spirit over physicality,” he says.
Yudi always made sure to explain about Tzedaka and the spirit of giving to everyone who entered his hospital room.
“It was protocol…not only do you put on the PPE, but you give tzedaka on the way in and on the way out,” Metzger says.

Let’s take this message of Yudi’s to heart, to help his family. As his wife Sarah faces the future and the burden of caring for and supporting her 6 beautiful children, she needs us, her worldwide family, to provide for her future.
For the past 10 months, we have all lived with and through Yudi and Sarah Dukes and their family. Every one of their hopes was our hope. Every one of their miracles was our miracle. Every one of their setbacks was our setback. Every one of their prayers was our prayer.
Now, when the unthinkable has happened, we must support, comfort, and give what we can and do what we can. That’s what family does.
