In an extraordinary display of unity and inspiration, more than 50 individuals united at two separate events in Lakewood, NJ to commemorate Yud Shevat, marking the anniversaries of the hillula of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, and the ascension of the Rebbe, as the leader of Chabad.
The first event, held on Thursday evening at Chabad of Jackson, located at 645 Cross St, Lakewood, NJ, featured a Farbrengen led by Rabbi Yossi Lew, the Shliach in Peachtree, Georgia. Rabbi Lew’s captivating stories of shlichus intertwined with the profound significance of the maamar “Basi L’Gani” held the audience spellbound. The gathering extended well into the night, with attendees enjoying Hot Cholent and a delectable spread of food, enhancing the communal experience and fostering a strong sense of togetherness.
The second event, a Motzei Shabbos Farbrengen, took place at K’hal Bnei Yissoschor in Toms River, Harav Babad, Shul, located at 1767 Whitesville Rd, Toms River. Notably, the local Shliach, Rabbi Moshe Gourarie, was actively involved in directing the “Likutei Sichos” project in Crown Heights during the event. In his absence, Harav Shalom Mordchei Rubashkin, renowned for his engaging and insightful talks, particularly those based on his personal prison experiences, had the honor of leading this Yud Shevat Farbrengen. He delved into the maamar “Basi L’Gani,” providing a profound and spiritually uplifting experience for all in attendance. The event commenced at 8:30 pm and concluded near midnight, accompanied by a delightful array of hot food that enhanced the sense of camaraderie among participants.
Both events enjoyed overwhelming support and attendance, with over 50 individuals actively participating in each gathering.
Remarkably, these events signify a significant transformation in the Lakewood area, signifying a positive shift towards embracing Chassidus and the messages of Chassidus Chabad. Yosef Shidler, organizer of these events, noted, “In years gone by, the town was known for its opposition to Chassidus Chabad, and today, we are witnessing dozens of people openly attending these events. It’s truly amazing to witness this positive change, where we can openly announce a Yud Shevat Farbrengen, and people eagerly participate.”
