The wildly-popular Young Women’s Kinus returned this year during Chof Beis Shevat weekend, which featured a weekend of inspiration geared towards post-seminary girls, single women and newlyweds, with topics that were relatable, inspiring, and uplifting.
The event featured a lineup of noted speakers, inspirational Farbrengens, lavishly catered meals, and other exciting opportunities to network and learn from peers and mentors.
Since 2012, the Young Womens Kinus has been organized by two young women from Los Angeles — Chayala Markovits (née Mentz) and Sarah Haller (née Elharrar), and is now taken over by Racheli Shatnani and Simcha Elharrar. Each year, the Young Women’s Kinus brings chizuk to a demographic that often feels underserved in the community, and it has been a resounding success. After the tragic passing last year of Rabbi Shimon A”H Raichik — a Los Angeles Chabad community pillar — Shatnani and Elharrar chose to dedicate the Young Women’s Kinus to his memory, grateful for Rabbi Raichik’s decades of leadership and guidance. Rabbi Raichik’s kindness, wisdom and generosity has helped and reached thousands who will forever be touched, and the Young Women’s Kinus adds a brick to the towering edifice that is his legacy.
During the Young Women’s Kinus each year, hundreds of girls gather in Crown Heights to socialize with friends, enjoy gourmet meals and receive a spiritual lift from workshops, sessions and events tailored just for them.
Many of the girls in this age group are already involved in shlichus — assisting in chabad houses around the world, Hebrew schools, bat mitzvah lessons, preschool and so on — while others have found their niche in other fields. Accordingly, the sessions tackled topics for both those who are working and those who are currently on shlichus.
The Kinus began on the evening of Thursday, 18 Shvat-February 9, with an inspiring address by Mrs. Naomi Gutnick and a trip to the Ohel with a Hachana by Rabbi Shais Taub.
On Friday night a chassidishe farbrengen was held by Rabbi Eli Engelson, who directs The Soul House & Shua’s Kollel. On Motzei Shabbos, participants enjoyed live music by Chaya Baitelman and a talk by Mrs. Dassi Zar and Mrs. Rochie Orimland.
Additional speakers in this year’s program included Rabbi Mendy Wolf, Ms. Chana Hirschowitz, Mrs. Sara Wolko, Ms. Chaya Mansourri, Sheva Balkany MS, Mrs. Esty Perman, Mrs. Hadassah Shemtov, Mrs. Rivkah Slonim, Mrs. Sandra Paul, and Mrs. .
We express tremendous Hakaras Hatov for all those who helped make this event possible.
