Yoni Shlomo released the first single from his third album just two months ago. So you might be wondering why he has decided to release another single before the album is released?
Yoni tells COLlive, “As we approach Rosh Chodesh Elul, it was just the right timing considering the words of this song.”
“As we arrive closer to Rosh Hashana, we know it’s Hashem’s will to decree what will happen to us for the next year. Since Rosh Hashanah last year, we have had to deal with this terrible virus. We see it’s still here, as we approach the time to ask Hashem to judge us and decree for us good things, we must do our utmost to Daven for this to end this year!” Shlomo says.
“Hashem is looking down from his holy place in heaven toward us. We pray that He will watch over us. In the merit of our actions and our Mitzvos, we know that He will,” he says.
“Hashkifa” is a song that carries the strings of the soul, consists of the moving melody of Pinky Weber and the special arrangement of the great arranger Moshe Laufer. The moving words are from the wording of the prayer said by the other priests who went up to the pulpit to bless the people of Israel with love.
Yoni also revealed more about the history of this song. “12 years ago I saw these words while I was learning with a friend. I connected to it a lot and I wanted to have a song on these words. I reached out to Pinky Weber and when he sent me the sample, I fell in love with it, because it explained these words so well,” he says.
I asked Yoni why it took so long for this song to be released. “8 years ago Moshe Laufer made the arrangement. It was perfect. Yet many told me it’s too old fashioned and so I held onto it for the perfect time. Then when corona hit I felt this song would be the right time. I actually re-recorded the vocals for it.
We know that this year, as the Cohanim are blessing us, and all of Am Yisroel, Hashem will bless us all with good things. Which of course would ultimately be the coming of Moshiach, may it happen right away!
