Rabbi Yisroel Shemtov will once again be organizing and leading the Simchas Beis Hashoeva celebrations in the Crown Heights neighborhood.
Having twice been ousted by previous Vaad Hakohols, at a meeting last year with the Vaad Hakohol and CHJCC members Zaki Tamir, Fishel Brownstein, Yossi Hackner, and Eli Cohen, the decision was made to hand the reigns over to Shemtov once again.
“Rabbi Shemtov has been organizing Simchas Beis Hashoeva for 33 years,” Zaki Tamir told COLlive. “To bring achdus to the neighborhood, we are making arrangements so that everyone can feel part of it.”
Thousands attend the annual musical celebration on Kingston Avenue between Crown and Montgomery Streets, with joyous dancing accompanied by known singers and musicians.
Each night of Chol Hamoed Sukkos, people stream to the Brooklyn neighborhood from throughout the New York tri-state area to participate in the event which the Rebbe encouraged many times.
Shemtov has assumed not only the task of coordinating the 4-night event, but has personally undertaken the financial responsibility as well.
Shemtov says the costs must be covered by private donations, especially from community members who know it’s a project that the Rebbe held so dear. Still, the donations do not nearly cover the vast expense incurred each year, and Shemtov has personally laid out over $30,000 to cover the difference.
“Each year, Simchas Bais Hashoeva costs over $25,000 to run,” Shemtov told COLlive. “I am asking all who are close to the Rebbe to feel a personal obligation to participate generously in this vital project.”
Checks may be written to LYO (Lubavitch Youth Organization) or to Yisroel Shemtov, and should be sent to Y. Shemtov at 1594 Carroll Street, Brooklyn, NY 11213. For more information you may contact Rabbi Shemtov at 917-755-0007.
Special thanks to CH Houseware and Hardware store for allowing the stage to be set up partially covering the front window of his store. The store will be open Erev Sukkos and throughout Chol Hamoed.

its unreal how you have fools still think the problem is with messichists.
for col to post such foolishness is wrong.
We need courageous residents.
State your names!
rabbi ysrael ad meah vesrim.
The vaad cant pay for it!!!! when moshe rubashkin ran it he gave away millions of dollars!!!!!
It’s not tznius or singers or whatever that keeps people from enjoying the simcha. It’s the meshichist nonsense and insanity that keeps people away.
For all the kedusha and simcha, the players turn up the volume and especially the bass – and put ON THEIR OWN EARPHONES – so as not to hear the noice. They face the speakers on towards the crowd – their own ears are blocked. The bass vibrates one’s body. Sometimes some of the instruments drown out the other players and the audience can say nothing – because the players are likely to say – “But the audience wants it like this”. This is modern INCONSIDERATION. But besides that – it is a “crime” as the decibel level seriously can… Read more »
simchas bais hashoevah is not supposed to be a concert. its something the Rebbe wanted for achdus and the mitzvah of simchas bais hashoevah.
I agree with you both. It’s a disgrace, but to be fair, many of the real culprits are outsiders. I live just off Kingston and I hate it: the noise, the vomit, the disgusting behavior & the daily mess all over the streets, it’s one big Chillul Lubavitch. Time to tone it right down or have real supervision.
Completely Agree!!
Where is the meirus nefesh to bring kovod to the Rebbe and
clean up the insanity that takes place with the meshichistin??
they are all decent singers ansd the big ones cost so donate and stop complaining and enjoy the entertainment .
Please can we clean up the circus-like atmosphere with the awful street vendors. and, please, please, please can we keep the volume down? It doesn’t have to be sooooo loud!
wrong more outsiders come because of the tznous problem. we need to clean up the yechi and we would get thousands more to attend
thats why zaki gave it to shemtov!
1. Don’t make deals with us.
2. We should distance our youth, so you could come have fun?
3. You guys come for some “eye candy”, and walk away complaning.
4. If you decide to come, please come by train and not hog up our parking spaces while you guys go around ogling our community members.
MAYBE IF U GUYS CLEAN UP THE TZNIUS PPL WD COME AGAIN FROM OTHER NEIGHBORHOODS
We haven’t had decent singers by the Simchas Beis for years now, please please please get some of the big guys out there!
