Yosef Shaffer of Crown Heights, a contributing lecturer on Torah Cafe, presented a web class on the deeper meaning of a yahrzeit.
The class was dedicated to his father Rabbi Gedaliah Shaffer OBM.
As the walls of his Brooklyn home that are lined with books attest, Gedaliah Shaffer’s (OBM) passion for Torah learning was apparent and constant.
A physics and math graduate of MIT and Princeton, Gedaliah Shaffer was an extraordinary intellectual, brilliantly versed in the sciences, arts, philosophy, theology and history.
A devoted husband and deeply devoted father to his ten children, his generosity was extended to all; he allocated hours each week to receive lines of needy people at his home, helping them financially and with his wise counsel and advice.
