The Rebbe’s office room in Lubavitch World Headquarters in 770 Eastern Parkway was opened on Thursday for a family.
Jewish businessman Eugene Borochovitch and his family were allowed in the sacred and simply furnished room to begin writing a new Sefer Torah he is donating.
Borochovitch grew up in the Rebbe’s hometown of Dnepropetrovsk in Ukraine and lately has been attending Chabad of the Five Towns in Cedarhurst, NY.
“He’s growing in Yiddishkeit,” the Shliach Rabbi Zalman Wolowik told COLlive.com.
After hearing from his close friend, Aaron Bhatia, an accountant, about the special mitzvah of writing a Torah, Borochovitch decided to sponsor one on his own in memory of his father, Mendel Borochovitch OBM.
And after hearing so much about the Rebbe and his care for every Jew, Yakov Borochovitch requested to begin the writing in the Rebbe’s room.
Under the watchful eyes of Rabbi Moshe Klein of Hasofer, he and his family wrote the first letters in the scroll to be completed this year.
there are no boruchovitch in sefer hatzeizoim (the alter rebbes family tree) but i see why you would think that! just confirming!
never the less its an amazing thing hes doing!!
Is he possibly a relative of the rebbe? The alter rebbe’s family name was “boruchovitch” (=son of boruch), as recorded in Hayom yom.
That would make him both a landsman and relative to the rebb! (Needless to mention, a tomeich of shluchei haNassi)!
