On the 6th night of Chanukah, the LeFrak Ice Skating Rink in Prospect Park was bustling with excitement as 350 Jewish women and girls gathered to celebrate Chanukah.
The Aliya Girls and the Space Crown Heights hosted the event, which was filled with joy and the inviting aroma of hot cocoa and jelly doughnuts. Festive Jewish music filled the air as women danced and skated on the ice. “I wait for this event all year,” said Chana M from Crown Heights. Many others including women from Flatbush and Boro park voiced the same sentiment.
The festivities reached their peak when Chaya Chanin, owner of The Frock and co-founder of Kohelet High School, and local musician Risa Freeman arrived as special guests. They led the crowd in reciting the brocha for the menorah and singing Chanukah songs. Their soulful yet upbeat performance reminded us of our Jewish power as everyone enjoyed the last minutes on the ice!
Thank you to our incredible volunteers Naomi Biston, Ayala Goodman, Nechama Friend, Noa Abikasis, Raizy Teich, Debby Frankel, Rivky Fuchs, Chana Miriam Geisinsky, Leah Viener, Faigy Gansburg, and Chaya Dudovitz. Thank you to our incredible staff that made this happen, Toba Kievman and Chana Hayman. Thank you to Mask for partially sponsoring this event.
May the Chanuka miracle present itself again this year in the form of releasing all the hostages alive and well, following Moshiach’s coming!
