A Jewish woman was robbed in broad daylight near Montgomery Street and Troy Avenue in Crown Heights on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred approximately 9AM, when the perpetrator walked next to the victim and grabbed her purse out of her carriage. He then fled into the alleyway towards Schenectady Ave.
Shmira and 911 were both immediately called. Shmira began searching for the perpetrator while police took the victim in a car to canvas as well. Unfortunately, he was not located.
Shmira obtained security footage from nearby establishments and discovered that the perpetrator was searching for victims since 8:30AM.
The perpetrator was described as a male black, approximately 20 years old, wearing a black hoodie and white shorts.
If anyone has additional information regarding this incident, please contact Shmira.
As the weather gets warmer, the crime rates raise as well. Beware of your surroundings at all times, and in case of an emergency, call Shmira 718-221-0303 and 911.

Hashem is reminding us to keep asking beseeching for Moshiach. We started feeling too comfortable in this Golus thinking that we will be here forever.
every1 should post this video on their social media and hopefully they will catch this animal
We need to save our communities and outvote thel liberal politicians. Also we must import Chinese neighbors just as they did in Boro park all around 8 ave and the streets are very safe. Who your non jewish neighbors are determins the crime rate.
This woman was carrying her wallet and cell phone on top of the child’s stroller. I see many people doing this and it is obviously an easy target.
I am not blaming that victim ch”v, just noting that there are precautions we can take to decrease the chances of these type of thugs attacking us.
So scary but women with little kids are 100% target for such robbery, pls make sure all CH residents are waking without showing any valuables and
Bring Police patrol to our streets , he will come back again
Maybe he needed the money for a down payment for one of the 2.5 million dollar homes in Crown Heights?
The Seven Noahide Laws’ mandates death penalty for this. The American Government MUST institute these laws.
The American Government ENJOYS crime…

The article clearly states that Shmira did backtracking camera technique and concluded he was on the hunt for almost an hour before he struck. Also the still image of the perp is definitely from a different camera, not on Troy
What should she have done different
I’ve yet to hear of a “white” guy doing such a thing ……
We need more cameras!
Good eye! Yes, it seems he had a lookout / backup. Important for citizens and police to know.
Reminder: making sure our mezuzahs are checked and property affixed helps protect everyone every where
watch the black guy waiting and watching him all the way in the corner, when he snatches the woman’s purse that guy leaves in the same time. check out the camera in that corner you might see more details
This is a very brave lady for striking that savage back. A few years ago I was mugged and badly assaulted in Crown Heights, and called an #### Jew. The cops never found the animal perp or put much effort into finding him either, it was a hate crime too. It kind of got pushed under the rugs. If NY law allowed, I would carry a gun and would use it if I had to. I suggest they install more cameras all over CH as Dov Hikind promised to do and never followed through with it. They apparently did this… Read more »
Such behavior does not have to be learned, it’s natural. No animal has any hesitation in taking what it wants from a smaller or weaker animal. Only humans have consciences that prevent them from stealing, and only if their parents trained it into them. If ones parents are themselves thieves, then one will never learn not to steal.
You are overthinking this.
This problem is largely due to drugs. Addicted people need their fix and will go to any length to get it. He grabbed the pocketbook in the hopes that there was cash in there. He will take the cash and toss the rest.
One contributing factor to this behavior is not nipping it in the bud. By condoning yarmulka theft as regular stupid child behavior and refrain from administering consequences, we breed this kind of more “mature” behavior.
This is thanks to our Mayor.
We’d do ourselves a service if we address how an adult feels motivated and gives himself permission to take something from someone else. Who taught this person (and why) this is ok? How did he get conditioned to allow himself to choose this action? Consequence/punishment is necessary, but getting at the root and source is equally necessary, if we want a safe environment. It’s not the color of skin, or even just the individual. It’s something that allows such action to take root and grow. I wish there were some way to get into the specific culture that fosters such… Read more »
Is anyone surprised that they haven’t found the perpetrator? I had my iPhone charger stolen from my car on Sunday day in broad daylight on Carroll between Kingston and Brooklyn Ave’s, brothers and sisters I strongly urge and suggest that we all lock our cars.
Amazing description, could be any one of those thugs out there.
Always the same type of people again and again. + they are the one wanting to give lessons in the subway LOL. Wish I was right behind him to kick him in the face
that he could have tipped over the baby carriage during his act of robbery.
can we zoom in on the sneakers ?
