The Friedmans are not litvishe. They are Hungarian with Satmar connections,,but Mr . Friedman in litvishe yeshivas.

The Friedman’s are not litvishe. They are Hungarian connected to Satmar, but they have not taken sides with the two Rebbes. Mr. Friedman learned in litvishe yeshivas.

I couldn’t imagine why there are so many comments on this
June 7, 2018 3:41 pm

until I started to read them. I don’t know the facts, perhaps R. Rubashkin can clarify it but I can appreciate if he would be hesitant to enter this discussion. This is all very confusing though. As far as the Mikva goes we need a group of balabatim willing to step up and assume responsibility for this. Without people willing to take action to save it all you have is a lot of senseless debate & speech on the issue.

Your first paragraph might explain his support of the yeshivah ketanah in Postville. Wouldn’t explain why he supports the mesivta there, which doesn’t have any local boys.

Really, is it that hard to accept that someone may give tzedakah for the right reasons, without an agenda?

Which mortgage costs?
Which ongoing costs? when you return the building, there you won’t be ongoing costs.

Why the sinas chinam
June 6, 2018 12:22 pm

Here’s a guy who purchased Agri to save it from closing down. Were any of you going to save it. You think he did something against Rubashkin? They froze all his assets.
And to bight the hand that is giving generously to Chabad. Really? You cry that there’s no scholarships and the rich should be sponsoring kids. Here you’re handed $1m to keep your moisad open and you are saying sick horrible things.

Say thank you. And look at how far the Rebbe reached and the impact on all Yidden.

You want Moshiach. Be the example.

Camp emunah is the place to be!
June 6, 2018 6:10 am

Camp emunah has made so many girls frum and lubavitch throughout the past 67 years, its a fun chasidishe camp and every Jewish girl belongs in the rebbe camp!
You can take a girl out of emunah but you can’t take emunah out of a girl

So impressive
June 6, 2018 12:51 am

Wow! Loved listening to both Friedman parents on their involvement with Chabad in the past and huge yasher coach for building the future!
As you say, Hashem rewards you and banks through you so you give more and especially nice for Oholei Torah that provides for so many children and basically future leaders of Am Yisroel.
I live in South Africa and love these winning stories, thanks to Collive publishing them.

people who write negative comments are negative energy
June 6, 2018 12:46 am

with Moshiachs arrival they will see what positive energy does in the world.

Thanks to the Friedmans there is positive growth

Use money to fix mikvah if you really care about Judaism. If you don’t, stop trying, you’re not fooling anyone. OT, you’re under the Rebbe’s name, even if you don’t feel the massive achrayus you carry, at least act like you do for the benifit of Lubavitch and the Jewish World at large.

He needs to keep a yeshiva open for the children of shochtim, etc or no one will live in Postville, IA to work in his company.
No one is jealous – we are simply not as impressed with today’s Avoda Zara 💲 to not see what is right/wrong.
As someone else commented, if you don’t know your facts…. the company was not in the hands of the bank. There were very ruthless Trustees. The co was worth many times what Friedman paid and Rubashkin lost big time because of his purchase.

Mikvah of Flatbush
June 5, 2018 10:58 pm

Instead of criticizing OT. Did any of the people living in that area offer to take over the mortgage and ongoing costs ? Or you are sitting at home and recommending that OT keep on paying the above and your job will be to express criticism .

go oholei torah!
June 5, 2018 10:36 pm

you guys did the right thing. Kol hakavod!

On other people's blood
June 5, 2018 10:01 pm

It is true that they work hard… but this should be done without trampling on other people. A good start would be to give back the Mikvah to the East Flatbush community. It is enough, stop stealing from Jewish communities to support your own.

A Yasher Koach!!
June 5, 2018 9:59 pm

So Beautiful!! Thank you very much Rabbi and Mrs. Friedman for supporting our Mosod, and our children’s summer camp. You will have tremendous nachas from the “graduates” of this camp! What a zchus! Thank you! Thank you!!

Thank you Friedman's
June 5, 2018 9:01 pm

I am speechless as to all the negative comments!
You are all Jealous!!! A Moised is Blessed by Hakodosh Boruch Hu to be the recipient of this Donation by people who are Baalei Chesed and the Garbage you are spewing is not to be believed! Oholei Torah works day in and day out to Fundraise to Keep a school going and a Beautiful campsite which benefits our growing Boys and be Mechanech our children Al Pi Taharas Hakodesh. Thank you Hershey and Raisy Friedman for your generosity! May Hakodosh Boruch Hu bless you with Kol Tuv Selah!!!

Learn an example from our Rebbe
June 5, 2018 8:35 pm

Our Rebbe always used positive lenses to see another person especially regarding the great mitzvah of tzedaka. Let’s be proud of all the mitzvahs our fellow Yidden do! And not chas vshalom see the negative that sometimes don’t even exist. Every mitzvah and especially the mitzvah of ahavas yisroel to judge another positively is bringing Moshiach!

By the way
June 5, 2018 7:38 pm

I believe Mr. Friedman continues to support the upkeep of the Rubashkin yeshiva in Iowa

following # 26
June 5, 2018 7:32 pm

My gut feeling is that Oholei Torah presented and described it in that light and followed on by saying they are the largest institution to educate and credit for the Lubavitcher shluchim worldwide this is their marketing scheme I’ve heard it from them before
On another note: Mr. Friedman says clearly that he followed advice of Rabbonim on Agri (so who knows)!

Nice nice
June 5, 2018 7:10 pm

A guy is giving 1mil and u have taanos and suggestions and humiliations, o my o my
The bank had the business so he ddnt take anything from rubashkin and it’s a nes hershy bought it so many people were able to keep their parnosso , plus we have reasonable pricec kosher meat, and btw, hes losing daily yet still holding on
Hes a great guy

chabad lubavitch org?
June 5, 2018 6:30 pm

does this guy realy think that chabad is one big org and he should just give to their biggest school because he went to gan yisroel?? hilarious!

Lets call a spade a spade!
June 5, 2018 5:18 pm

1. Rubashkin should get the credit for building Agri. 2. Camp Gan Israel and Camp Emunah should also get a donation 3. This a very dubious business play. Agri Processing would not be in business today if not for the CHK hechsher they have, under the supervision and guidance of Harav Avrohom Osdoba Shlita. Yes you do give credit to Harav Segal for convincing Mr. Friedman to give this donation. 4. Seventy-five percent of Agri business is Lubavitcher Shchita their profit margins off the back of Chabad are the largest in the industry. Their other 25% that is under Weissmandel… Read more »

lo saamod al dam rayecha, period

I guess its nice hes giving big tzedaka to Chabad
June 5, 2018 4:31 pm

What thing we can learn is that we shouldnt undermine a camp experience or interaction with someone often it rebounds back

Makes my blood boil..
June 5, 2018 4:28 pm

Hashem will defend Rubashkin and his whole family!!

June 5, 2018 4:25 pm

Wow beautiful Yasher koach Friedman family
All the brochos in a revealed way
I’m shocked at some of these comments
We all know what’s explainednin chassidus
How can one put down another Yid when doing a mitzvah?!
He’s donating lots of money to a Chabad camp, that’s beautiful
What happened with Rubashkin know one can judge unless they hear two sides of the story and get the whole picture
Bh I’m not a judge and I never want to be
Let’s all continue doing mizvots and brings Moshiach now!

Beautiful, So Eidel and Humble.
June 5, 2018 4:20 pm

Truly incredible to see a frum billionaire and the way he acts. You can tell he is probably a big Baal Tzedaka. Giant of a man.

June 5, 2018 3:53 pm

I hope they will make it easier for people to afford to send their sons to camp

suggestion to board of oholei torah
June 5, 2018 3:38 pm

since the camp is already built – maybe use the money to fix the mikvah in e flatbush and dont sell it

June 5, 2018 3:31 pm

You know he benefited from gan Yisrael montreal and he supports ohlei torah before giving money to the cheder of lubavicher yeshiva in Montreal which the teachers are very behind in their pay check by three months it pains a lot that he does not give to the yeshiva I think the million dallors should go to the yeshiva in montreal instead metal the din of eniay eiracha kodmin

Emesdick yid...
June 5, 2018 2:56 pm

#5 100% correct, #6 if you don’t know what you are talking about, stay quiet. HF is one of the most terrible people out there, and that Riboino Shel Oilom isn’t paying him back for how much pain he personally put Rubashkin meshpocho through should have him very worried…

To me it looks like...
June 5, 2018 2:45 pm

He is wishing to make amends and show goodwill. That is a good thing and should be accepted gracefully. I’m sure it was not a simple decision for him to make this change in his priorities.

I don’t understand your perspective. Would you have preferred Rubashkin’s business totally disintegrate? He took what they built and what the government attempted to destroy, and gave it a second life. I wonder if you discussed your perspective with the Rubashkin before you developed it. If you’re concerned with the honor and shame of our schools, perhaps a better use for your passion is to better them yourself. See what and how the schools educate. I’m sure there’s room for improvement that someone of your passion can help make happen. And if you’re a person of abundant financial resources, perhaps… Read more »

He did not cause the destruction of the company, don’t blame the buyer, it could have been sold to a treif company as well. Business is business, and the deal came from difficult circumstances but it has nothing to do with the the new owners

Not sure what's worse?
June 5, 2018 2:29 pm

This kibbud to someone who had a part in destroying SMR or the selling the mikva story. SAD!

The irony...
June 5, 2018 2:26 pm

Oholei Torah is benefiting from Mrs. Friedman going to Camp Emunah
yet Oholei Torah is fighting Rebbitzin Hecht by selling the East Flatbush Mikvah!

Are you not embarrassed?!?!?
June 5, 2018 2:21 pm

Shame on you Oholei Torah!! How low is low? You accept BLOOD MONEY and then expect your students not to see right through what you are supposedly teaching them?! Actions speak louder than words.

June 5, 2018 2:13 pm

He said half the story

Gan israel and Emunah
June 5, 2018 2:11 pm

Klotz kashe…
If the connection is because of the summer camps, then he should’ve given 1Mill. To gan Israel and 1Mill. To Emunah??!!

#1 is wrong
June 5, 2018 1:51 pm

That comment is disgraceful. Rubashkin was unfortunate situation that has to do with the government not him. We should see many more such stories of achdus between Jews. I’m sure Rubashkin would agree with me

June 5, 2018 1:36 pm

Very surprising that OT honored a guy that literally acted as a vulture and took advantage of the Rubashkin misfortune.
