Woman of Valor: Who, Me?

This weekend, Crown Heights is proud to host thousands of Shluchos from around the world for the annual Kinnus Hashluchos. With their husbands and children holding down the fort back at home, let’s take a moment to reflect upon the pivotal role of the Jewish woman.

How has the role of a Jewish woman changed throughout history? When a reporter posed this question to Mrs. Miriam Lipskier, she came to one conclusion: it hasn’t.

Mrs. Lipskier tries to describe the Jewish people, and finds one true definition that accurately applies across the board, through all stripes, patterns, conditions, traditions and schools of thought: We are a family. And as with the center of any family, at the heart of this enormous family, is the woman. Take a look as Mrs. Lipskier explores this role, representing women and their focal position in the global Jewish family – a position that remains constant.

Irrespective of what society has deemed a woman’s role is, or how it changes, as the center of the Jewish family, a Jewish woman is held in as high a regard as she always has been.
