Less than 24 hours after COLlive.com reported a dangerous traffic hazard in the heart of Brooklyn’s Crown Heights section, New York City’s Department of Transportation (NYC-DOT) was quick to act.
Workers were seen on Wednesday removing a stop sign and markings on the street pavement at the southwest intersection of Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn Avenue.
Previously, the corner had both a traffic light and a red stop sign, confusing drivers and pedestrians over who had the right of way.
The large Oholei Torah boys school, which is located nearby, has reported this as a “safety alert” to its parents and students, mentioning how there have been a few near-accidents at the intersection.
Community activist Yaacov Behrman of the JFA was quick to contact Ryan Lynch, NYC DOT Chief of Staff to Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez, and Pinny Ringel, NYC DOT Director of Public Engagement.
“They assured us that it will be taken care of right away and we appreciate the DOT’s prompt correction of the issue,” Behrman told COLlive on Wednesday. “Oholei Torah also deserves appreciation for their proactive approach.”

Now let’s see if you could do it that fast on eastern parkway and Albany southeast corner.

Now let’s see if COL and the new vaad hakahol can reposition all the citi bike racks off the streets, so they do not take up all the needed parking.
