A new publication highlights the Rebbe’s approach to fundraising events.
When the Rebbe called Rabbi Sholom Duchman into yechidus just two days before Rabbi Duchman’s wedding, the Rebbe had a clear directive. It was time “l’harchiv – to expand” Colel Chabad’s fundraising efforts.
There was one specific avenue the Rebbe strongly pushed: in-person fundraising events. The Rebbe felt strongly that when you asked people to come, you were giving them an even greater way to be involved. Not only were they dedicating donations – their time and attention would be involved in the moised as well.
From then on, Rabbi Duchman corresponded with the Rebbe about every single event. Colel Chabad’s archives contain hundreds of documents, letters, and news clippings that show the Rebbe’s care and involvement in every detail. The records span decades, from Colel Chabad’s first event in תשל”ח to the Rebbe’s letter to event attendees in תשנ”ב.
A collection of these documents was published in honor of the wedding of Benzion and Miri Duchman. Each curated file is a gem, a gift from the Rebbe.
From the Rebbe’s repeated brachos to the Rebbe’s instructions handwritten in the margins — every pulses with the urgency and care the Rebbe invested in the value of fundraising events.
