Two women have created “With Love,” a new organization to provide support for families who experienced a miscarriage, after noticing a growing need to address it in the Jewish community of Crown Heights.
Chaviva Tarlow and Shaina Wilmowsky, two local residents, said they have created the organization to provide support both emotionally and physically to those who experience miscarriages.
They said they have been hearing many people commenting about the fact that after experiencing the sad loss, they feel lost and stuck, and have no idea where to turn for support, counsel and assistance.
“We noticed that even the organizations that do provide support aren’t well known,” they told COLlive.com. “We encourage anyone who needs help to reach out to us for support and assistance.”
The goal is to create a safe spot for people to share and give support to one another, as well as a website exclusively for those who miscarry, which will provide a list of resources and organizations that provide support in other areas, such as care packages, emotional support, and more.
The organization’s initial projects will be to provide meals for the family for one week following a miscarriage, to create a comprehensive inventory of the services provided by many organizations for such situations, and a list of contacts to reach out to for emotional support.
The founders understand the importance of anonymity in these cases, so all meal trains will be totally anonymous. The people who provide meals will not know who they are making meals for, they will simply be told the amount of food needed and any dietary restrictions if necessary. Recipients can choose to have the meal delivered to them, be left at their door, or even delivered to a friend or neighbor if they wish.
Knowing that emotional support is vital, they also have compiled a list of people to contact from the Chabad community who are willing to discuss their personal experiences and provide emotional support.
“With Love” was created in collaboration with Shifra Puah, ATime Hug, Mothers Of Crown Heights, Mikvah.org, Seudas Yehudis and various doulas and Kallah teachers in the community.
The organization is welcoming volunteers to sign up to make meals or to transport meals to homes. For more info, contact Chaviva Tarlow at (201) 887-3922 or Shaina Wilmowsky at 929- 326 -1523.
