Rabbi Aizik Landa, the new Chief Rabbi of the city of Bnei Brak in Israel, has filled a double role when visiting Ukraine last week.
Rabbi Landa was first honored with serving as sandak at the Bris of the grandson of Rabbi Moshe Azman, one of Ukraine’s Chief Rabbi.
Taking place at the Brodsky Choral Synagogue in Kiev, many members of the local Jewish community participated in the celebration.
Rabbi Landa was later honored with serving as sandak at the Bris for a 20-year-old Jewish university student performed by the Chief Mohel of Ukraine and Moldova, Rabbi Dr. Yaacov Gaissinovitch from Brit Yosef Yitzchak organization.
Rabbi Landa was first moved by the willingness of the youngster to undergo circumcision at his age and follow the staple Mitzvah.
When it came to giving the student a Jewish name, Rabbi Landa was moved a second time as the student chose the name Moshe Yehuda Leib.
It was a tribute to Rabbi Landa’s highly regarded father, Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Leib Landa OBM who passed away before Pesach this year.
