As we scramble to get our kids out every morning to catch the bus, there is a lingering fear in each parent’s mind as they walk out of the house. Through smiles, hugs and all the midmorning rush, there’s worry for our children-what if the others don’t see him the way I do? What if they don’t understand his feelings? What’s if my child gets bullied?
Everyone remembers what it felt like on the inside when they were left on the outside. There’s certainly been a time a careless word made your heart drop, that bright red flush creep up onto your cheeks, a moment in time you can’t wait to forget. As parents, our instinct and sacred duty is to protect our children. To fiercely defend them so the big bad world can’t reach their pureness. But despite our best efforts, our defenses are not enough and so it’s time for offense. It’s time to teach them the power of speech instead of running from it.
Today is the 86th yahrtzeit of the Chofetz Chaim, a gadol who’s name has become synonymous with careful speech. In honor of the venerable sage’s legacy, the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation is continuing its offensive fight and encouraging the awareness of the impact speech has.
Through social media and the digital world, people like @abbeywolin, @yaffapalti, @yaelivogel and many more are spreading the message of the Chofetz Chaim.
Remember what it feels like to be on the negative end of speech and help the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation help others to never forget that words have impact and that the impact is everlasting.
Make the inner circle wider and let no one feel like an outsider again. By donating to the one day only campaign, you are helping the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation continue to spread the message and bear the torch of their namesake.
