The Avner Institute presents photos (from around 1986) which gives you a glimpse into the Rebbe’s room in 770, and how it looked on a regular basis.
The pictures portray the Rebbe standing in the doorway of his room handing out lekach (honey cake) and delivering a public bracha for the new year. This is the room that the Previous Rebbe gave to the Rebbe upon his arrival to the United States in 1941. It was also the room that thousands of people came to for a private audience (yechidus) with the Rebbe. As per the Rebbe’s secretaries, the Rebbe, in 1992, spent many hours clearing his room, which included sending many of the books back to his library (which is next door to 770).
With special thanks to Rabbi Yossi Newfield. Pictures are the property of Rabbi Yossi Newfield’s archive collection.

Thank you so much!!!! As part of the younger generation who doesn’t remember the Rebbe, I really appreciate this photo. It’s so important to publish photos of ‘details’ like these.
The world was contained in that room. Every paper is another miracle, another Jew, another deeper insight into Torah. No wonder the outside is called ‘Gan Eden Hatachton.’ The inside could only be….
wow! may we see the Rebbe again very soon! Moshiach Now!!!
