Maryland’s Governor Larry Hogan, Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford and Secretary of State John C. Wobensmith issued a governor’s citation for the first time ever last week in honor of a Chabad wedding which took place in the state.
The unique proclamation was issued in honor of the celebration of the wedding of Mendel Mintz of Brooklyn, NY to Miriam Fink of Baltimore, Maryland.
It was presented by Deputy Secretary of the State of Maryland Luis Borunda, who has been of great assistance in the past to many Shluchim, and is a friend of Head Shliach of Maryland Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan.
Borunda attended the great wedding celebration without hesitation when his good friend, Shliach Rabbi Chesky Tenenbaum, director of Jewish Uniformed Service Association of Maryland-Chabad reached out to him about this special celebration.
Borunda, who danced and rejoiced with fellow guests and had a special dance with Mendel Mintz, said he “was in tears after dancing with the Chosson, and was very moved” at the first Jewish wedding he has ever attended.
“I will never forget it,” he concluded.
