In commemoration of the Taanis of Asara Beteves, JEM released a moving presentation from Asarah Bteves of 5725. Just a few short months after the passing of Rebbetzin Chana, the Rebbe was Davening by the Amud.
In this audio recording of Slichos, the Rebbe could be heard crying bitterly as the Chassidim stand close. The clip is narrated by Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi who was a yeshiva student at the time.
On the 10th day of the Jewish month of Teves, 425 BCE, the armies of the Babylonian emperor Nebuchadnezzar laid siege to Yerushalayim. This day has been commemorated as a public fast day since.

The Rebbe davened upstairs (in the small zal) on Asoro Bteves 5725, when these unforgettable heart rendering slichos were said. The photos are not in the “shalash”, but in the newly built (at that time) shul downstairs, in the place where the “shalash” was previously. This is just a glimpse of the Rebbe’s indescribable boundless love for Klal Yisroel and the terrible deep pain he feels each day we are still in golus. It is so hard to hear this and to think of the pain he kept deep inside continually, how can one listen to this with dry eyes!

You’re sure about that? There’s a wall of exposed brick in front of the Rebbe (and behind the Aron Kodesh), so it looks like it’s in the former “Shalash” (today the western third of the downstairs shul).
