The Kinus Mechanchos Chabad and retreat, the largest gathering of Chabad female educators in North America, took place at the Hilton Long Island on this past Monday and Tuesday, Yud Ches and Yud Tes Av.
The convention brought together over 300 mechanchos (and 40 of their infants) for two days of inspiration, learning and tremendous Chizuk in their holy role as educators of the next generation.
Over 50 sessions, presented by 44 different experts in the field of Chinuch were held on subjects spanning the entire spectrum of education from early childhood to school leadership, mental health to classroom management.
In addition to lavish meals, swimming, mentoring and special sessions geared to nurturing the teachers, there were also inspiring farbrengens that lasted well into the night. The farbrengens were led by Mrs. Batsheva Deren, Morah Chani Brod and Mrs. Tamara Katzman.
The Greatest Shlichus – Chinuch
One of the highlights of the convention was the grand banquet on Monday night, which honored the Mechanchos for their important work. The keynote speaker was Mrs. Gitty Rosenfeld, principal of Bais Rivkah elementary school, who spoke on the topic of “What Keeps Us Going: Torah’s Inspiration for Chinuch Today.”
Two videos were premiered which emphasized the vital role of educators as well as the Rebbe’s brachos for those who take on the most important Shlichus of all, the Shlichus of Chinuch. Throughout the evening event, educators heard about the awesome responsibility they hold guiding the next generation, as well as the appreciation of the greater community for their devotion to their students.
The convention was held in connection with Chof Av, the Yahrtzeit of Reb Levi Yitzchak, the Rebbe’s father. Participants felt energized by the extensive new tools, ideas, strategies, and methods that were shared. Uplifted and inspired, the mechanchos left recharged and ready to head back into the classroom.
The third annual Kinus Mechanchos Chabad was organized by the Menachem Education Foundation, produced by Boruch Cohen of Sovereign Productions, and catered by Bentzion Turk.
Mrs. Deren is the most caring and sensitive principle. Yeshiva Girls of Pittsburgh is lucky to have her!
