A fellow member of Anash and former Hatzalah member is in desperate need of a kidney.
How often does someone get the chance to save another person’s life? For some people, never; but for you, the opportunity may just be next week.
A kidney donor drive will be held this upcoming Tuesday evening, August 28th, erev Chai Elul at the Jewish Children’s Museum, from 6 to 9 in the evening. All that is needed is a simple cheek swab that takes just a few moments.
At 7:30 there will be a forum led by Rabbi Josh Sturm, Renewal’s Director of Outreach, followed by an open Question and Answer Session.
The drive is being led by Renewal, the largest Kidney assistance organization in the USA.
The event is sponsored and endorsed by Crown Heights Hatzola, Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Bikur Cholim, Beis Shmuel- Chabad and by the following individuals by Rabbi Levi Garelick, Dr. Eli Rosen, Moshe Pinson, and Nosson Blumes, of Oholei Torah, a former Kidney Donor.
If he r”l does not receive a donor kidney in the very near future, his chances of survival bleak, to say the least.
The more time passes, the more difficult it becomes for him to undergo a successful transplant surgery. According to UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing), the average wait time for someone in his condition is 11-12 years. That means that if he continues along the regular route of waiting on the national deceased donor list, he may run out of time ch”v.
You have an opportunity to change that terrible statistic, and save his family. You can get tested in the upcoming Kidney Donor Drive
As an absolute last resort, he and his family are desperately turning to you, the Crown Heights community, to ask people to get tested to become potential donors.
The more people turning in, the higher chances of finding a match.
The more people getting tested, the higher the chances of finding a match so this young man can live.
Please be a part of this life saving mission. Get tested! It’s a simple swab.
What takes just a few minutes out of your day, can potentially give many years of life to another person.
After testing for compatibility, you can decide whether or not you want to go forward with the donation. Your decision will be kept completely confidential.
To qualify for testing, you must be between 21-65 years, AND in overall good health. Male or Female.
In the meantime, please pray for Chaim Daniel ben Brocha for a refua shlaima, and find a donor match.
For more information or for a pre-testing form, you can call Renewal, at 718-431-9831 ext. 310 or email [email protected]. You can visit Renewals informative website at www.Renewal.org, or visit their social media at instagram.com/renewalnews or Facebook.com/renewalnews.
Amazing.

I am sure you have inspired people to help not just for this young man but also many others suffering from this horrible disease that we have the power to make a difference.
The reason Hashem gave us two kidneys is to be able to safe our brothers in need. Thank you for remind us.

I donated a kidney through a jewish organization several years ago. the recipient sadly did not survive. it seemed that shortly after the transplant (that went smoothly), he had an unexpected heart attack. In no way do i regret that i donated. i would strongly suggest that anyone that plans on doing with speak with several people who have done so close to their age and physical conditioning. Recovery is not easy and is more difficult with older people. i was 33 at the time. If anyone would like to hear more about my experience, I am willing to talk… Read more »

Is this event being held only for blood type O and A?
My husband desperately needs a kidney. He is type b. He has been waiting for two years now. We live in Montreal, Qc and hopefully we will have a branch of renewal here. Rabbi Bright of congregation Shaare Zedek has gracefully accepted to help us set up here. We’re meeting with a gentleman who helped set this program up in Toronto. We are praying that making people aware we will be fortunate to receive a kidney. Hopefully through this program many kidney patients with very low function will be helped. It is always a mitzvah to give.
