KGTV reports:
Jewish leaders have an offer for vandals who targeted the Chabad House at San Diego State University and its free-standing menorah: Come forward, be a “Mensch” and we won’t press charges.
On March 24, at around 2 a.m., two residents at the Chabad House on Montezuma Rd. saw a small group of young men doing pull-ups on the lowest branch of the menorah, which stands in front of the building.
Rabbi Chalom Boudjnah said the branch eventually cracked, and one of the residents recorded several men running into a white Toyota Tacoma, before they drove off.
Rabbi Boudjnah said before the men ran off, one of them yelled, “The Jews are coming. Let’s go!”
VIDEO:
Get a proper steel menorah that won’t crack every time a drunk kid does something stupid.
Why not put a positive spin on it.
Talk to the news about how it’s a symbol of bringing light, spiritually uplifting, etc. and how it’s beautiful to see people of all faiths physically uplifting themselves with this symbol. Make a point to urge the community to help make the Menora stronger so together we can support more people in all ways, etc.
Focus not on what they said, but how you can turn what was done to your benefit.
Lighten up. It looked like a challenge. They weren’t trying to break it. As for the remark, Jews are what they saw coming. It could have been “cops” or “people.”
Aren’t you trying to elevate people with the menorah?
If a group of men were playing ‘exercise’ games with public symbols from any other major religion, to the point of breaking it, there would be a big outcry & investigation over it for sure!
‘They said the Jews are coming, lets go’ may all these types of people fear us!
they ran away before the ‘jews’ were coming, this just shows their cowardness…;p
