A bus shelter on Kingston Avenue near Montgomery Street in Crown Heights was discovered to have been shattered in an apparent act of vandalism.
A resident who was walking past the area at 8:00 am Tuesday noticed the broken glass strewn across the ground and notified Levi Goldstein of LG Media Group, who has leased the shelter’s advertising space from the City of New York, along with many others in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights, Boro Park, and Flatbush areas, as well as in the Five Towns.
Goldstein expressed shock and dismay at the random act of violence.
“There are no words to describe the recent rash of vandalism taking place here in Crown Heights. From damaged cars to minivans, I have been hearing about too many incidents lately. Just last night a relative of mine had their car broken into as well,” Goldstein says.
“This has to stop. We live in a peaceful neighborhood, we don’t fight with anyone, and for someone to attack and vandalize property for no reason is just uncalled for.”
A source at the NYPD 71st Precinct told COLlive they will be looking into the matter, since there were two vehicles on Kingston Avenue that had their windows vandalized during the night as well.
Goldstein says he has notified the city via email and is awaiting their response on when the shelter will be repaired.
“We will also be looking into obtaining video surveillance from the area to try and catch the perpetrators of this violence,” Goldstein said.

Jewish people don’t exactly have the greatest luck with safety and neighborhood stability, when thugs are allowed unchecked and unhindered, to cruise on through, breaking glass at will…… We also know what happens to those who fail to learn from history……. I hope that this is not a sign of things to come….
“We live in a peaceful neighborhood”, really? Am I missing something, or does Crown Heights now occupy space in a utopian alter world, which exists in a different dimension? Let me so bold as to give you a lesson on the “reality” of the situation. You live in a community which is under seige 24/7/365-354. You beg and plead with the “gracious” politicians who have systematically stripped you of any and all ability to protect yourselves and your families (thereby keeping you completely dependant on their “good graces” for your “protection”). You have been hoodwinked into believing that you are… Read more »
When people don’t have to work for a living they have too much time on their hands.
That is a what a liberal would say. That is…until they break your glass.
theres something beautiful about this. it looks like a bunch of blue diamonds are scattered on the road. anyone for making this modern art? kol hakavod to the “vandals” for beautifying CH! dont worry, vandals now will be realized as artists
We need to take back this community, it keeps getting worse and worse.
“We live in a peaceful neighborhood”…… really? CH is far from that – I lived there for 20 years and that is definitely not one of the ways I would use to describe it.
Just this passed Sunday I was driving up Schenectady from dean street heading towards Eastern parkway when a sudden crushing noise of an object thrown at my windshield interrupted the conversation I was having with my passenger. I looked through my window and noticed two boys aged around 11 picking up debris to continue their assault against my vehicle. I rolled down my window and raised my voice at the perpetrators who returned my shouts with vulgarities. Then and there I realized that these kids are brought up to hate civility and are on the road to escalating their actions,… Read more »
