United States Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday called for the world to stand up to Iran, drawing a parallel between the Islamic Republic and Nazi Germany.
Pence was speaking in Jerusalem during the World Holocaust Forum at Yad Vashem, where visiting dignitaries gathered to commemorate the Nazi genocide of Jews during World War II and mark 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, Times of Israel reported.
Like other global leaders who spoke, Pence said “we must stand together” against the rising anti-Semitism in many countries across the world.
Ending his remarks, Pence said in Hebrew, “Oseh shalom bimromav. Hu ya’aseh shalom aleinu. V’al kol Yisrael V’imru: amen.” (May he who makes peace in heavens make peace among Israel as well.)

Later, Vice President Pence visited the Western Wall Thursday evening accompanied by his wife Karen, as well as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and his wife Sara.
They were greeted by the Rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the Director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mr. Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, US Ambassador to Israel, Mr. David Friedman and his wife, Israeli Ambassador to the US, Mr. Ron Dermer, and NSC Director Mr. Meir Ben-Shabbat.
Vice President Pence noted that his previous visit to the Western Wall in Jerusalem took place exactly two years ago, on January 23, 2018.
He was very moved and remarked that the site is enveloped in holiness and is spiritually uplifting.
The Director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation told him that recently an additional eleven stone courses of the Western Wall were exposed after having been covered for the past two-thousand years. The Vice President said it was amazing that such an impressive structure was built two-thousand years ago.
The Vice President and the Prime Minister prayed together with the Western Wall Rabbi at the Wall and recited Psalms chapters 121 and 122. After that, they placed notes between the stones of the Western Wall and said a personal prayer.
The Vice President received a souvenir of a stamp etched with the name “Chagav” – the name of a Jew from the First Temple period – in ancient Hebrew writing. The name appears in the bible and the stamp was discovered in excavations under the Western Wall plaza.
The Vice President and the Prime Minister signed the Western Wall guestbook, stating that they pray for the welfare of Jerusalem.
