A large crowd gathered together on Thursday night in Lauderhill, FL to support Israel and condemn Hamas and their heinous attacks.
Jews and non-Jews alike, joined and supported by public officials across the political spectrum, attended in order to take a stand against antisemitism and terror.
Rabbis, Priests, City Commissioners of several cities, County Commissioners, State Representatives, and Members of US Congress, all showed up in person or via video feed to address the gathered crowds.
The event was co-sponsored by the city of Lauderhill and the local synagogues.
The evening began with a masterful rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” lead by world-renowned singer and local resident Yacov Young.
Rabbi Levi Chanowitz of Chabad of Inverrary led the crowd in the recitation of tehillim followed by powerful words that inspired participants.
Amongst the speakers at the event were Congresswoman Shiela McCormack, who sent a video message for the event, County Commissioner Michael Udine, a proud Jew, who prayed for the IDF by reciting the “Mi Shaberach” in English to a resounding “Amein” by all in attendance.
Lauderhill Vice Mayor Ray Martin, City Commissioner Mellissa Dunn, City Commissioner Denise Grant, and City Commissioner Jabbow Martin all spoke about the need to unite for Israel and their personal commitments to serve the needs and protect the local Jewish community with all their abilities.
The event was coordinated by Rabbi Chaim Rosenstein, a vocal community activist who spoke passionately about supporting Israel, condemning Hamas, and the need for concrete action to be taken to repair our world in accordance with our holy Rebbe’s message.
Rochel Taktuk, a local resident and teacher of torah classes for women who has recently returned from a trip to Israel, shared her horrifying experiences with those in attendance. She recounted what she had seen in the Kibbutzim and called upon everyone to finally recognize evil for what it is and not to stay silent.
The evening concluded with a prayer for peace and unity amongst all as the crowd once again enjoyed Yacov Young’s rendition of the song Acheinu, which has become an anthem of sorts during this current conflict.
