United Hatzalah volunteer Yechiel Mayburg responded to the shouts of passersby that a person was waving a knife threatening civilians on the Promenade in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood in Jerusalem on Friday.
Mayburg, a veteran volunteer and EMT instructor with the organization, saw a Arab woman brandishing a knife and rushed to intervene before she could cause any harm.
“I raced to the scene on my Ambucycle while alerting United Hatzalah’s dispatch and command center to the emergency on the headset in my helmet,” he said.
“I was able to disarm the assailant before she could cause a tragedy and harm someone. An off-duty police officer subdued who was nearby subdued the woman until additional security forces arrived.”
