Getting ready for a new school year is filled with excitement—fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, and the anticipation of new teachers and friends. For parents, it’s a season of preparation and nachas as they help their children step into a new chapter. But along with the joy comes a long shopping list, and the costs add up, especially when uniforms are part of the equation. Helping to make that process easier can go a long way in starting the school year off right.
A Crown Heights gemach helps local families cut back on back-to-school expenses with gently-used girl’s school uniforms for Bais Rivka students.
Uniforms really add up, especially for families with several children to dress and the Uniform Gemach is there to alleviate a portion of the back to school costs. The gemach, currently located in a private home, offers cleaners pressed, gently-worn skirts, shirts, sweaters, and jumpers—available at no charge to families that could benefit.
The gemach operates by individual confidential appointment only and is open to families in the Crown Heights community.
To donate gently worn uniform items please drop off on the stoop at 379 Crown Street between Brooklyn and New York.
To schedule a confidential appointment call 1 (718) 493-1740 after August 14. With thanks to Mr Shloimy Kapalushnik of Regency cleaners for contributing toward the cost of pressing skirts.
