Students of the eighth grade in Lubavitch Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway were rewarded for good behavior by “getting their feet wet.”
Students Yakov Adi and Sruli Feldman, under the close guidance of Rabbi Harari, learned boating basics, including basic equipment, launching and landing any small vessel, introduction to how body, boat and blade work together, efficiency of five major strokes, how to communicate clearly with your partner, and understanding how to avoid potential dangers on the water.
After becoming very proficient with their paddles in a short amount of time, they were able to visit an uninhabited island, where they said brochos and pesukim.
The experience is a great incentive for the other students, who hope to receive the same reward in the future.
