Tzeirei Hashluchim Tzfas Opens Levi’s Library in Memory of Bochur

On Monday, 21 Iyar, Yeshivas Tzeirei Hashluchim Tzfas held the grand opening of Levi’s Library, a new English library dedicated in memory of Hatomim Levi Lewin A”H, a beloved bochur known for his love of learning and seforim.

The library was a project headed by the Shluchim to the Yeshiva to provide a positive and chassidishe outlet for the bochurim during their free time. Levi had enthusiastically gotten involved in the project, compiling lists of seforim to buy. With over a thousand books on a wide range of topics, the library is a perfect space for the bochurim to read, play a game, or just relax during their free time.

Throughout the event, Levi’s love for learning, and personal interest in various topics in Torah were emphasized, with many of the speakers describing this most fitting tribute as a true embodiment of “vehachai yiten el libo.”

The program was led by Rabbi Chaim Kaplan – Shliach and Chairman of the Chabad community in Tzfas, and featured words from several of Levi’s teachers and family members, including Rabbi Mendel Benshimon, Rabbi Menachem Schtroks, Rabbi Moshe Cohen, and Rabbi Yona Abenson.

Levi’s father, Rabbi Dovid Lewin, shliach to Quebec City, also spoke, thanking the yeshiva and sharing emotional words about his son’s love for Torah and his connection to the yeshiva. A beautiful painting of Levi by the famed artist Shulamit Bismuth of Yerushalayim was also presented to the library.

Following the speeches, Levi’s family and classmates gathered in the library to formally unveil the plaque in his honor. The room was filled with emotion as the plaque was read out, and various memories of Levi’s love for learning and his fellow bochurim were shared between all those that were present. Participants were able to tour the library for themselves, appreciating this valuable resource now available for the bochurim.

The event concluded with Mincha in the Zal, followed by a Sheva Brochos seuda for Levi’s uncle Mendy and Ruthi Lewin in the yeshiva dining room, concluding with lively dancing.
